Information and advice

We provide a telephone advice line and e-mail service for children, adoptive parents or foster carers and birth families to off-load. We offer help and advice to those individuals who are affected by adoption and permanent fostering.

We offer basic legal advice to those individuals affected by adoption and permanent care in particular those looking  to pursue Special Guardianship Orders, Residence Orders or Adoption Orders.

General Support

We provide services such as respite care for adoptive/ families or help with specific support or needs (disabilities). We provide support and specific advice to meet the needs of black and minority ethnic adopters, adopted people and birth parents/guardians. We undertake assessments and support care packages for service users. We provide support to families breakdowns.  We provide advocacy services where necessary to accompany those individuals at reviews /meetings to act as an independent.

Mediation

We provide post adoption mediation where professional decision making has ended and agreement between birth and adoptive parents continues to be an issue. We extent our service to support families breakdown and access issues.

Family work

Our therapists and social workers are trained and experienced within child psychology and post/ adoption work.

Counselling can be provided as one to one or  family therapy for the service user and the referral can be made either by the adopted child/young person, as a couple, or as a family, or as an adoptive family or birth parent (s). We will accept referrals from other agencies on behalf of the service user.

Access to birth/Adoption records

We support adoptive families with practical advice and assistance to those who have been adopted and want to trace members of their birth family; the emphasis being on tactful and discreet enquiries which avoid the risk of causing distress to anyone.
